Our new favorite holiday color: Blue

Oh, the weather outside is frightful (ok, maybe a brisk 50 degrees in the morning), but inside your home is so delightful with this exciting color trend for fall 2015. We've taken a page out of some of the most innovative designers' books for the upcoming holidays so you can have a blue Christmas that's so very merry and bright.

Light blue isn't typically seen as a Christmas color, but it adds a modern pop when paired with more traditional colors like green. Be sure to introduce plenty of white into the color scheme as well to add an arctic feel to this cool color palette.

Now that you've gotten your feet wet with baby blue, hopefully you'll be prepared for our next pick: turquoise and orange. While these two colors aren't what you usually think of for the winter holidays, we love their breezy, California-coastal vibe. Keep the holiday spirit alive by pairing your orange with lots of greenery, like Christmas trees and wreaths, and surrounding your color scheme with pale neutrals.

This patriotic color scheme is usually found around the fourth of July, but it can be delightfully winter-y when used in festive patterns, as shown in the photo above. Make red and white your main colors, and use light blue as an accent color. It's a refreshing departure from the standard green fare without straying too far away from the holiday essence you look forward to every year.

So far we've focused on lighter shades of blue, but we can't forget our elegant staple blue, navy. The beauty of navy is that it goes with practically everything, especially the beautiful metallic colors associated with winter, especially silver and gold. It's also rather formal, so you can use it to dress up your events while still adding an unexpected pop of color.
